San Daniele del Friuli
The tastes of Friuli
Gently lying on the sweet hills of Friuli, San Daniele is a very charming village and it’s really worth a visit. The town is renowned all over the world thanks to its top quality ham that has no parallel and is the result of a thousand-year experience combined with a unique microclimate.
Every year in June the town celebrates the San Daniele ham with a festival called Aria di Festa: ham producers open their doors for the occasion offering to the visitors the opportunity of a guided testing tour. Many visitors come from Slovenia and Austria.
Not to be missed:
- the Guarneriana Library, the oldest public library in Friuli and one of the first in Italy. It contains precious codices dating back to 12th – 15th century and 83 incunabula.
- the Duomo of the 18th century and the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate with its Renaissance frescos.
